Mozambique Luxury Holidays

A truly authentic African experience

Dune fringed beaches to vast tracts of bush

Discover a country perhaps not as famed as some of its neighbours, but no less inspiring

If you’re looking for an authentic African experience, Mozambique is one of continent’s lesser-known holiday destinations and has an off-the-beaten-track feel. Discerning holidaymakers are attracted to its top class resorts, natural beauty and warm and welcoming people. Whether you want a wild adventure or something more relaxing, our luxury Mozambique holidays can cater to all desires.

The beaches

Surrounded by the Indian Ocean, Mozambique offers an abundance of stunning beaches and marine parks. There’s plenty of opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving along its coral reefs, with an array of colourful sea life to explore. If you’d prefer, you can hop on board a leisurely boat cruise or go on a fishing trip.

Many luxury Mozambique resorts are also dotted along the coastline, offering easy access to beautiful beaches and ocean activities. Our range of relaxing lodge and villa complexes provide guests with top-class service and stunning views.

Colonial history

While most visitors go to Mozambique for its natural beauty, the country also offers a rich history and culture. Like many African countries, Mozambique has a colonial past and its Portuguese heritage is prominent in its architecture.

The capital of Mozambique, Maputo, is definitely worth a visit to check out the well-preserved colonial buildings and markets. The Cathedral of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, with its distinctive white spire, is widely regarded as the most spectacular building in Maputo. Another must-see landmark is the city’s train station, which was designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who famously designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. For the artistically inclined, the National Art Museum has a fine collection of contemporary African paintings and sculpture.

Lake Nyasa

Though Lake Nyasa is mainly in Malawi (where it’s known as Lake Malawi), a quarter of it is located in Mozambique. This beautiful body of water offers an unspoilt natural paradise with a handful of eco-lodges scattered along its shores. Days here can be spent relaxing on sandy beaches, swimming in clear waters and exploring the tranquil forest that surrounds the lake. Nyasa is also home to over 500 species of fish, 350 of which can only found in these waters.

Food and drink

With its sprawling coastline, it should come as no surprise that Mozambique’s most popular national dish is seafood. The prawns are large and juicy and served grilled, fried and covered in spicy sauce, while the fish comes straight off the boat and is barbecued on the beach. The nation is also well known for its cashew farms, so don’t miss the chance to pick up a bag of these tasty nuts from a street food vendor.

Mozambique's Portuguese heritage is also visible in the food, with piri piri chicken and Paõ (bread rolls baked in wood-fired ovens) served in most restaurants. When it comes to drink, the national beers include 2M and Laurentina. There’s also Tip Tinto, a local rum, which is served with a berry-flavoured soda called Sparberry.
