Zambia & Zimbabwe Luxury Holidays

Wild Africa

Home to the mighty Victoria Falls

Lesser visited, but no less enticing

A visit to Zambia and Zimbabwe is an opportunity to experience truly wild landscapes, as well as the incredible animals that inhabit these magnificent countries.

Breathtaking sights

From vast dry plains in Zambia to lush pine covered mountains in Zimbabwe and everything in between, these two countries have a truly eclectic mixture of landscapes to explore. Despite being landlocked, great rivers flow through Zambia and Zimbabwe, and with lakes such as Lake Tanganyika, where white sandy beaches provide the perfect gateway to snorkelling with tropical fish, there is no shortage of cooling water activities.

To combine adventure with wildlife, paddle a canoe down the Zambezi River, where you may even pass crocodiles, hippos and elephants along the way. For souls seeking an adrenaline boost, fun-filled pursuits such as rafting, bungee jumping, gorge swings and helicopter tours are exciting and unique ways to experience the famous Victoria Falls, a Unesco World Heritage Site on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. If you’d rather enjoy the natural wonder at a slower pace, there are plenty of other opportunities to view the thundering water with a walking tour or sunset river cruise.

Adventures in the wild

On a trip to Zambia and Zimbabwe it’s possible to catch a glimpse of all of the ‘big five’ African animals, and plenty more. With so many parks to choose from, visitors can tour them all or choose based on the experiences on offer. In Zambia, follow animal tracks through the bush in South Luangwa National Park, experience the magnificent wildebeest migration in Liuwa Plain National Park, or look for lions, leopards and cheetahs in Kafue National Park, which holds impressive diversity of wildlife and habitats.

In Zimbabwe, head to Matobo National Park for a chance to see rhinos, or Hwange National Park to see some of the biggest elephant population in Africa. There is a special experience to be had in Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park; it is remote and wild and close encounters with zebras, hippos and elephants are almost guaranteed.

Cultural experiences

To get your fill of culture, wander the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, an ancient settlement dating back hundreds of years that remains an important emblem of the nation. The site is best visited at sunrise or sunset, making it even more striking, and guided tours can be arranged for those interested in the city’s history. In Zambia, Shiwa Ng’andu, a country estate built by a British aristocrat, makes for an interesting visit. Today, the site is a working farm focussed around a grand mansion, with a whole community nestled around it. An already fascinating visit can be made even more appealing by stopping at Kapishya, an idyllic hot spring forming a pool surrounded by white sand and lush plant life.
