British Virgin Islands Luxury Holidays

An Invitation to Explore

Sun-kissed Beaches

More than 50 isles to explore

With over 50 idyllic isles to explore, the British Virgin Islands are perfect for sun-worshippers and water-lovers alike. Protected bays and coves offer some of the world’s most breathtaking beaches, where you can spend your holiday relaxing on soft sands, swinging in hammocks, swimming with tropical sea life and searching for shipwrecks. Azure offers a range of luxury hotels in BVI, providing you with the perfect base from which to explore the stunning scenery and vibrant nightlife.

Sun-kissed beaches

The British Virgin Islands are home to an array of picture-perfect beaches, each with its own unique charm and attributes. For leisurely walks on a footprint-free sand, a trip to Savannah Bay offers over a mile of pristine shoreline with stunning ocean views. The crystal clear water of Spring Bay is ideal for snorkelling, with majestic boulders creating a natural seawater pool teeming with marine life. Take a trip to Norman Island, said to have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘Treasure Island’, or go for a heart-thumping drive down hairpin bends to reach the palm-fringed Brewers Bay, a secluded retreat with a real away-from-it-all feel.

In and on the water

Stories of pirates and buccaneers are abound in the British Virgin Islands, and there’s plenty of opportunities to discover age-old shipwrecks. RMS Rhone has been stranded in the waters of Salt Island since 1867 and can be explored by divers and snorkelers of all levels of ability. For the more experienced in the water, the 250-foot long shipwreck Chikuzen is guarded by bull-sharks, reef-sharks and lemon-sharks, and offers a golden opportunity to see these underwater wonders up close. Alice in Wonderland, just off Ginger Island, is the place to see some of the most beautiful coral formations the BVI have to offer. Meanwhile, the rocky formations known as ‘The Indians’ at Pelican Island majestically rise out of the sea and are home to a wide variety of rainbow-coloured fish.

If you prefer to be on top of the water, paddle your own kayak on a sea safari through the mysterious mangrove forests on Beef Island, with the chance to see stingrays, turtles, barracuda and baby sharks. Alternatively, try your hand at kite-surfing on Virgin Gorda and Anegada, where the trade winds are perfect for picking up a hair-raising speed.

After dark

The BVI are famous for relaxed hospitality and genial get-togethers. Head to one of the beach bars and try the famous Painkiller cocktail - a heady mix of local rum, coconut, tropical fruit juice and nutmeg. If you’re out for an evening stroll, stop off at a local stall vendor who will happily chop the top off a coconut for you to enjoy the refreshing milk inside - and even add a splash of rum if you desire. Food-wise, lobster is a favourite dish across the islands and is usually served barbecued with the chef’s secret blend of herbs and spices.
