The Perfect Island Getaway

Explore over forty beautiful islands in the heart of the Caribbean

Comprising over 40 stunning islands and cays located east of Cuba and south of the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos has all the trappings of an idyllic Caribbean getaway. Only eight of these islands are inhabited, and their sparkling turquoise waters, sandy beaches and tropical climate are all excellent reasons to book one of our Turks & Caicos luxury holidays.

Activities

The Turks & Caicos islands have some truly gorgeous beaches, including the famous Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales and the secluded Bambarra Beach on Middle Caicos. If you’re looking for something more than simply relaxing on pristine sands and paddling in clear waters, these little islands have a great deal of other activities to offer.

Home to one of the Atlantic’s best barrier reef systems, scuba diving and snorkelling are always on the agenda. Explore the spectacular, underwater scenery, including the plunging coral walls at Grand Turk, Providenciales and West Caicos. Fishing is another popular pastime, including bonefishing and deep sea and sports fishing, with a range of excursions available and several tournaments taking place throughout the year. Other watersports include kayaking, paddle-boarding and kiteboarding, and there are numerous boat cruises to choose from.

On land, the islands offer some fantastic hiking routes, especially in the rugged wilderness of South Caicos and Salt Cay. Many resorts also offer golf courses and tennis courts.

Nature and wildlife

The marine life in the waters surrounding the Turks & Caicos islands is second to none, with the chance to see turtles, stingrays, sharks and dolphins, as well as a breathtaking variety of tropical fish. There’s also excellent bird-watching on the islands, with species ranging from ospreys and pelicans to egrets and herons. The endangered rock iguana is generally only found on the smaller islands and cays, but you’re likely to encounter a curly-tail lizard or two on any island. Several types of endemic gecko species and snakes can also be found on Turks & Caicos, along with a variety of bats and crabs.

Explore the mangrove swamps and little coves across the islands, and be sure to visit some of the mysterious caves, sinkholes and blue holes created over time. Conch Bar Cave and Indian Cave, both found on Middle Caicos, are fine examples of this. The wild, limestone cliffs are a splendid sight to behold, particularly Mudjin Harbour on Middle Caicos and West Harbour Bluff on Providenciales.

Take the time to admire the shallow, saltwater ponds that speckle the islands, offering relics of the formerly prosperous sea salt industry operating in Turks & Caicos. The remains of the cotton plantations on Providenciales, North Caicos and Middle Caicos are also worth a trip, as is the country’s single lighthouse on Grand Turk.
