Cambodia Luxury Holidays

Awe-Inspiring Temples

Ancient & Modern Worlds Collide

A real up and coming destination that packs in a huge amount

Sandwiched between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia boasts a handful of unique archaeological attractions that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. With its captivating charm, natural wonders and warm, friendly people, it’s hardly surprising that this country is becoming an increasingly popular place to visit. Luxury holidays in Cambodia offer an alluring mix of historic sites, picturesque beaches and spectacular wildlife.

Highlights

One of Cambodia’s main draws is undoubtedly the temples of Angkor. Located near to the tourist town of Siem Reap in the North West, this fantastic array of ancient monuments includes the magisterial Angkor Wat and the awe-inspiring Bayon. However, the country is home to hundreds of more enchanting, historic temples dotted across the landscape, often surrounded by encroaching forests. While exploring these splendid religious sites, make sure to stop off and visit one of the many floating villages on the Tonle Sap – South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake.

Despite being the capital city, Phnom Penh retains a delightful, small-town charm. Conspicuously lacking in the high-rise buildings commonplace in many bustling cities, Phnom Penh is made up of wide, tree-lined streets and is bordered by three rivers. Be sure to visit the Royal Palace, National Museum and Silver Pagoda before taking a stroll along the lively riverfront or wandering around the city’s vibrant markets. There’s also a plentiful supply of tasty Cambodian dishes to enjoy from roadside stalls, boutique cafes and swanky restaurants alike. One of the nation’s most popular dishes and a must-try for any visitor is the noodle soup known as ‘kuy teav’.

Relaxation and wildlife

If you’re looking for outdoor adventures, Cambodia has an abundance of stunning natural landscapes waiting to be explored. As well as its rice fields, rugged mountains and lush jungles, the country’s coastal offering must also be acknowledged. The Southern province of Sihanoukville features several idyllic beaches with sweeping stretches of white sand and turquoise waters. There are also a number of small islands offshore, with the opportunity to snorkel or dive among stunning coral reefs, or simply relax on the soft sands and soak up some sun.

A visit to this charming country would not be complete without devoting some time to its varied wildlife. Head to the Mekong River for a chance to glimpse the rare Irrawaddy dolphin and the endangered Cantor’s softshell turtle. You can walk with elephants in the Elephant Valley Project in the Mondulkiri Jungle and observe an astounding range of water birds at the Prek Toal Core Bird Reserve. At the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, there’s a vast range of species to encounter, including leopards, gibbons, tigers and otters, as well as the option to feed the elephants and interact with baby macaque monkeys.
