Argentina Luxury Holidays

Rugged Wilderness and Uber Cool Cities

A Land of Passion

The most European of the South American countries, this does little to dampen its Latin flair

Argentina is synonymous with mountainous terrain, tango dancing, rolling wine regions and delectable cuisine. The country’s landscapes are surprisingly contrasting, from the icy Perito Moreno Glacier in the Los Glaciares National Park to the striking desert areas of Salta, Purmamarca, Cachi, Molinos and Cafayate in the north-west. You can walk the bustling city streets of Buenos Aires or experience what it’s like to live as a gaucho on an estancia.

Argentinian luxury holidays are the perfect way to get acquainted with this vast and diverse nation.

Undoubtedly one of Argentina’s main draws is the chance to explore its many natural wonders. The breathtaking Iguazu Falls - the largest waterfall in the world - is one of the country’s major attractions. With an impressive 1.7 million gallons of water rushing over the 900ft-wide cliff edges, you’ll be left awestruck by the waterfall’s sheer size and power. If you don’t mind the colder climate, head south to Los Glaciares - a World Heritage Site with extraordinary Patagonian ice caps and glacial lakes. With an abundance of dramatic icefalls and jagged peaks, it’s not surprising that this stunning area is thought of as one of the most beautiful places in the world. To immerse yourself fully in this chilly wonderland, strap on some crampons and embark on an icy trek on the Perito Moreno glacier, or sail across Lago Argentino lake.

When it comes to food, Argentina boasts an eclectic mix of national dishes. Make sure you try meats cooked on a parrillada, Argentina’s version of a barbeque, and feast on the country’s famous beef dishes of churrasco, asado and milanesa. Try some provoleta cheese, empanadas or alfajores biscuits, and don’t forget to wash it all down with a glass of Malbec wine. Argentina’s wineries produce the fourth largest supply of wine in the world, so visiting the vineyards in the famous Malbec region is also a must.

In the capital city of Buenos Aires, be prepared for lively days and late nights. Some of the city’s most popular attractions and sights include the Plaza de Mayo, the cobblestone streets of San Telmo, the uniquely-styled Teatro Colon opera house, Carlos Thays botanical gardens and Buenos Aires’ most colourful street, Caminito in La Boca. In the evenings, don’t miss the chance to try a tango dancing lesson or a cooking class to learn more about Argentina’s rich culture.
