Zannier Hotels Omaanda
Somewhat unusually, the story of Omaanda begins with a chance meeting - a conversation with film star and activist Angelina Jolie. The actress had visited another property in Cambodia, and told tales of an African venue that should be preserved and maintained in just the same way. That place was Omaanda, which is positioned in a beautiful natural setting within the Zannier Reserve in Namibia. The hotel now works in close collaboration with the Naankusê Foundation to play a vital role in animal conservation.
Elegant, exclusive accommodation
The aim of Omaanda is to unite local traditions and wildlife with the incomparable location, while offering the ultimate in luxury and seclusion to those who come to stay. To this end, 10 deluxe huts are positioned in the heart of the reserve, offering a location that is in complete harmony with the environment while offering elegant, exclusive accommodation. Huts at Omaanda are built in Namibian style, in a rounded shape with charming thatched roofs. The colour palette used reflects the natural tones of sand and earth, with distinctly African touches such as finely crafted artworks and furniture. Each spacious hut has a fireplace, walk-in dressing room, large bath and shower and a private terrace affording guests views over the nearby lake and hills.
Delectable dining
Dining at Omaanda involves the use of local, sustainable produce, used to create meals from breakfast to dinner that are appetising, attractive and nourishing. Breakfast is ordered from an a la carte menu, while lunch consists of sharing platters. The daily highlight is a four-course evening feast, including vegetarian as well as meat and fish dishes.
Safari and spa
As well as game drives and other animal encounters, some time at Omaanda can be spent at the sumptuous spa. Treatments combine traditional Namibian healing techniques and modern therapy methods to unite and balance the mind, body and soul.
