The Serai Camp Relais & Châteaux

The Serai Camp Relais & Châteaux

Suján The Serai is a remarkable destination hotel, steeped in grandeur and luxury. Opened in 2008, supported by local communities, it truly is the illustration of Indian opulence. Built in a unique uniformed linear grid, the mixture of sandstone construction with magically created luxury tents has to be seen to be believed. Set in the desert, this simple yet contemporary place is punctuated with stunning plunge pools, artefacts and the true spirit of the region.

Tented sophistication

There are 21 simply breathtaking tents, each stood on individual sandstone plinths. Redefining definitions here comes as standard, the luxury tents with outdoor verandas offer unsurpassed views of the beautiful surroundings. With beautifully decorated living spaces, covering over one thousand square feet.

If you wish for real opulence, then consider the sensational luxury tents or even the remarkably ostentatious royal tented suite. You’ll marvel at these fantastic spaces, private open-air plunge pools, which are subtly candlelit in the evenings, heated outdoor pool, separate tents for dining and lounging, all with your very own butler to ensure everything is as perfect as you would expect.

Elegant desert dining

At the Suján The Serai, the emphasis on the locality is important and this is reflected with the sumptuous food, illustrating the local cultures and the people who thrive there. You are free to dine anywhere within the grounds and the talented chefs produce ever changing menus encompassing the freshly grown produce. The plates are out-of-this-world drawing on inherited recipes and mouth-watering local delicacies.

For a wonderfully romantic touch why not try the Desert Kitchen? The hotel’s outdoor kitchen team will share their glorious recipes with you and encourage you to participate in their creation. Using traditional Indian cooking methods, the team will present you with memorable plates of wonder.

Local treasures

As you would imagine, the stunning surroundings can be explored easily. The camp can organise all manner of amazing excursions, whether it’s to the golden city of Jaisalmer or discovering the abandoned city of Kuldhara. There are so many amazing things to see and do and nothing is too much trouble.
