The Grand Hotel Cocumella

The Grand Hotel Cocumella

The oldest hotel on the Sorrento peninsula, The Grand Hotel Cocumella is a place of myth and magic, and a favoured haunt of artists, writers and scientists from Goethe to Mary Shelley, Hans Christian Andersen and Sigmund Freud. With an exquisite private church and ancient cloister, it’s the perfect base from which to explore the ruins of Pompeii and the Islands of Capri and Ischia.

The boutique hotel has 47 rooms with views of the citrus groves or the garden that reaches down to the sea. Furnished with elegant antiques, they evoke the sacred tranquility and grace of the ancient Jesuit convent whilst offering modern luxuries and comforts. Most rooms have large terraces and several have an outdoor jacuzzi.

Dine at chic Scintilla, where gourmet cuisine uses vegetables from the organic kitchen garden to create a Mediterranean menu of local specialities and international classics. Or enjoy a Mediterranean buffet and pizza from the wood oven at the Citrus Grove, in the shade of orange trees near the pool.

Coku is the first Robata restaurant in Italy and there’s no better place to enjoy this fusion of Mediterranean and Japanese flavours as you watch the sunset over the Gulf of Naples.
