Monaci delle Terre Nere

Monaci delle Terre Nere

Monaci delle Terre Nere is a luxury boutique hotel set 500 meters above sea level on the foothills of Mount Etna, just outside Zafferana Etnea. Once an 18th century winery, the estate spans 25 hectares of vineyards, orchards, lava stone terraces, and lush gardens, creating an immersive natural haven. Guests enjoy sweeping views of the Ionian Sea and the volcano from elegantly restored rooms featuring exposed stone, wood beamed ceilings, and private terraces or patios.

Sustainable Luxury & Organic Farm Living

The property is both a certified eco retreat and an active organic farm that cultivates over 100 fruit varieties, vegetables, herbs, citrus groves, and vineyards. This commitment to sustainability extends to the on site restaurant, Locanda Nerello, where Slow Food principles guide each dish. Many ingredients are estate grown, paired with wines produced directly from the property’s Etna vineyards, including Nerello Mascalese and Carricante.

Design, Suites & Villas

The resort offers uniquely designed suites and villas scattered throughout the estate, ensuring privacy and tranquillity. Accommodations feature a blend of Sicilian rustic character and modern design; wood burning fireplaces, contemporary art, terraces, and in some cases, private pools. Guests can also enjoy solar heated infinity pools overlooking the sea and countryside.

Unforgettable Experiences Among Nature

Monaci delle Terre Nere offers curated experiences that showcase the beauty of Sicily. Guests can explore vineyard trails, join guided wine tastings, take scenic bike rides, enjoy horseback excursions on Mount Etna, or even book private helicopter tours above Taormina. Daily shuttles connect the retreat to the vibrant coastal town of Taormina, making it easy to blend relaxation with exploration.

A Truly Immersive Sicilian Escape

Whether savouring estate wines, wandering through olive groves, or unwinding by the infinity pool, Monaci delle Terre Nere offers an inspiring blend of nature, luxury, and authenticity, making it one of Sicily’s most enchanting retreats.
