La Residence, Franschhoek

La Residence, Franschhoek

Located only three quarters of an hour from Cape Town International Airport is the epitome of luxury. La Residence is situated in the stunning Franschhoek valley on a private 30-acre estate. The undulating countryside filled with vineyards, olive groves and orchards give way to the spectacular Hottentots mountain range. Flanked by the picturesque Haweqwa and Theewaters nature reserves your views here are simply breathtaking.

Retreat to beauty

To stay here is to witness decadence in all its glory and unashamedly opulence. La Residence makes no apology for the flamboyance of the suites, the extravagant decoration or the ostentatious appointments. These are exactly the reasons why you would choose such a fabulous destination.

Each suite is individual in its design and feel, and the attention to detail is remarkable. The rooms here are simply beautiful. Superb furniture, luxurious bathrooms and rustic fireplaces give a feel of homely grandeur all with wonderful views of the countryside beyond.

Gastronomic perfection

Centred in the heart of South Africa’s famous wine country, you could not wish to be better placed for a holiday that promises amazing cuisine and world class wines. Executive Chef Lennard Marais delivers culinary genius here. His emphasis is on fresh, local ingredients, much of which is grown on the estate itself.

Such is the importance of the food produced here. Guests often sit down with the chefs themselves to discuss tastes and preferences so that the menus can be tailored accordingly. Culminating in unforgettable plates of food.

Take it all in

Venture out from La Residence and you will find yourself in the centre of stunning countryside. The hotel offers complimentary bicycles. What better way to spend some time just pedalling around the vineyards? When you return it is time to be pampered in the lush spa, with so many exotic treatments to choose from. Before you leave be sure to take a closer look at the hotels wonderful collection of art - a true passion of the owners who love to share it with you.

Everything you need to know before planning your dream trip

When to travel
November to February is the busiest time, but March to April and September to October are popular. Whale watchers should visit July to October, whilst May to October is a good time for safaris – it can get cold on game drives so pack a fleece
How to get there
Your holiday will begin with a British Airways or Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg, or British Airways to Cape Town – the average flying time about 11 hours, although as there is only a 1 hour time difference there’s no tedious jet lag.
