After what felt like a lifetime of waiting from booking to travelling, I finally arrived at the fabulous Elounda Gulf Villas with my dad and step mum for a week of relaxation. Although it was 10 o’clock at night, the whole resort lit up like stars. We were greeted at reception with a warm, friendly welcome and offered and a cold flannel to cool down from the humidity, plus Elounda’s very own refreshing Banana Juice. We were then shown to our beautiful villa, Daedallus, with our suitcases delivered swiftly after. I was in awe at the beautiful precise decoration around the villa. Moments later the door bell rang and our evening meal, organised by the hotel because of our late arrival, was laid out beautifully on the table.

The next morning came and we head down for breakfast, stunned by the variety of both Greek and English cuisines, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! The food was cooked beautifully and everything I had tasted and looked fabulous. There were also a vast selection of fresh fruits, smoothies and yoghurts, plus anything could be ordered specially to your desire.

After a day at our gorgeous villa, we ordered some afternoon drinks with the in villa service which was quick, reliable and simple to use. Delivering staff were friendly and chatty and also knowledgeable about each specific villa/room.

With a relaxing day behind us, we headed for dinner. We ordered food from the set menu, which changes daily, and the al a carte menu, available for only a few nights a week. Both menus offered a taste of both traditional Greek and English dishes with a vast variety which is important to satisfy holidaymakers needs. Each dish was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. For me, the chicken souvlaki was my all time favourite.

During the week, I was very impressed with the whole atmosphere, cleanliness and overall quality of EGV. Every room/villa was decorated beautifully with a mix of both modern and traditional Greek furnishings all with different breathtaking sea views. All staff were outstanding, professional, well-mannered and extremely helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. Concierge services were exceptional and well informed. Club cars were on hand whenever to take you anywhere within the resort premises which is perfect if you struggle to walk up the steep hills. During the day the communal pool offered a relaxing atmosphere with the bar/kitchen just at the ding of a bell. Pool service was prompt and straight forward. A gym and spa were available for use with good quality equipment and refreshments at hand. Each person who stays at EGV automatically receives a free thirty minute massage and if accepted, it’s a wonderful treat. The masoose is very polite, professional and gentle, always making sure you are ok which is fantastic for people like me who have never experienced a massage before. I felt very relaxed.

The whole resort of EGV is beautifully designed with long and short winding hills, drifting off in different directions to each villa or room. Flowers are delightfully placed both around the resort and within the villas, it’s like a flower paradise. All maintenance and gardening is up to date offering the best possible stay. I could really tell that the founders of EGV really put in a lot of artistic effort and creativity to build the best possible resort to make it different for holidaymakers to remember and it is definitely appreciated as I am an art student myself.

I had the most amazing time at EGV and I honestly cannot fault anything. I especially loved my experience of different rooms as each one I stayed in differed to one another. My favourite villa was Mylatos, the layout and decor was just beautiful.

A special thankyou to Anthi for making our stay so magical and I hope to return again in the future.
