Ellerman House

Ellerman House

Ellerman House’s reputation precedes itself, and this is the place to be in Cape Town. The Edwardian mansion overlooks the South Atlantic Ocean, offering spectacular views in an unrivalled location. Just half an hour from the airport and you’re in the exclusive Bantry Bay, home to this stunning hotel. With just thirteen bedrooms and two private villas, you can be sure of a superb level of service.

Contemporary living

Ellerman House is not just a hotel; it is an experience from the second you arrive to the moment you leave. Surrounded by the country’s most sought-after real estate, you could be mistaken in thinking that you’re staying in a lavish private house rather than a hotel.

There is an enviable collection of art on show around the house too that would rival any of the best art museums and galleries. Speak to the concierge team and they will be only too pleased to organise a tour with Talita, the hotel’s art guide.

Each room in the hotel is designed differently with one common theme - art and antiques. These are mixed together to give an elegant feel to each space. A stunning combination of textiles, colours and timber are brought together in a remarkably contemporary finish.

Unique adventure

The Ellerman House concierge team don’t just offer you the usual days out. They really do go that extra mile, designing a bespoke itinerary tailored to exactly what you want to see and do. With a magnificent portfolio of experiences, there is something for everyone. Experience the stunning Benguela Diamond Safari, exclusive to Ellerman House guests, or immerse yourselves in the remarkable White Desert experience – a flight to Antarctica for 24 hours you will remember forever.

Fabulous food

The food here is stunning, with sumptuous breakfasts, lush lunches and mouth-wateringly beautiful dinners. The chefs are more than happy to discuss interests and needs to produce bespoke dining experiences.

Included in your package is access to a wonderful 24-hour pantry, a selection of gorgeous snacks and nibbles for when the mood takes you.

Everything you need to know before planning your dream trip

When to travel
November to February is the busiest time, but March to April and September to October are popular. Whale watchers should visit July to October, whilst May to October is a good time for safaris – it can get cold on game drives so pack a fleece
How to get there
Your holiday will begin with a British Airways or Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg, or British Airways to Cape Town – the average flying time about 11 hours, although as there is only a 1 hour time difference there’s no tedious jet lag
