Elsa Kopje is renowned for being one of the most elegant lodges in Africa, certainly the best address from which to see the wildlife of Kenya. It is named after George and Joy Adamson’s beloved lioness, immortalised in the book and film “Born Free,” and the word ‘kopje’ meaning small hill, in this case Mughwango Hill, which overlooks the site of George Adamson’s campsite.
Elsa’s Kopje blends into the rocky crags and the spacious cottages incorporate natural features in elegant rusticity. Muslin-draped four posters and exposed wood adds an almost colonial charm. All are en-suite with elegantly appointed bathrooms. Elsa’s Private House is an exclusive hermitage set apart from the main lodge while Elsa’s Honeymoon Suite is a triple level room, with a sitting room, double bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The ubiquitous infinity pool overlooks the Meru plains here, instead of the sea as in most resorts! With utterly breathtaking views, this is definitely Elsa’s ‘pride’!
