Surely one of the world’s best-known hotels, Raffles Singapore barely needs an introduction. Opened in 1887, Raffles is one of the very finest examples of colonial style and excellent service. The hotel offers an oasis of unruffled calm, yet sits close to the centre of Singapore and all this fabulous South East Asian city’s attractions.

All suite

Raffles Singapore is infamous for its all-suite accommodation. Every room in this iconic hotel is a suite rather than a stand-alone bedroom, offering large, luxurious spaces to truly relax in. There are plenty of nods to history in their names too. The Alhambra suite commemorates the first air-conditioned theatre in Singapore, while the Promenade suite recalls the late 19th century, when Singapore had a seafront. The Lady Sophia suite, meanwhile, is named for the spouse of the founder of Singapore - Sir Stamford Raffles.

From Long Bar to Grand Lobby

The Long Bar at Raffles is the birthplace of the Singapore Sling, which was created here in 1915. This gin-based cocktail has never gone out of style, and the Long Bar is the number one place on the planet in which to savour this classic beverage. For fine dining, a range of restaurants offer options including French, Mediterranean, Indian and Chinese food, as well as a steakhouse. There is also, of course, the Raffles famous afternoon tea, served daily in the magnificent Grand Lobby.

Singapore has it all

While no stay in Singapore is complete without visiting Raffles Hotel, the building is conveniently placed close to the city’s attractions. The Orchard Road shopping district is but a two-minute ride away via Mass Rapid Transit. HarbourFront is within easy reach too, as are Chinatown and Little India. Sentosa Island is a breathtaking ride away via cable car, offering a fun way to travel across the water as you take in 360-degree views of the magnificent city skyline.
