&Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

&Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

With spectacular views over the Ngorongoro Crater in northern Tanzania and amazing baroque styling, a visit to the &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge will certainly be a memorable experience. Daily flights arrive at Lake Manyara Airstrip, which is a 90-minute transfer from the lodge.

A unique, magical lodge

Perched at the top of the crater rim, the views from the &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge are ever-changing. Mists swirl down in the crater below, while clouds sweep past above.

The suites feature grass roofs and ceilings made from banana leaves, and evening fires blaze in the hearths. This is combined with teak panelling, Persian rugs, brocade sofas, sparkling crystal and huge windows with views over the crater to create a sumptuous sense of fantasy.

Delightful experiences

Spend a day with Hadzabe bushmen and learn about their way of life as hunter-gatherers. Find out how they hunt, what they eat, what they do to survive and experience some of their culture.

Hike through the forests of the Empakai Crater for an experience to remember. Views of Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley are combined with dense forests that are home to blue monkeys, brightly-coloured birds, bush bucks and water bucks.

Picnic down in the crater, eating gourmet food served by butlers at tables set with white linen and silver cutlery. Watch the zebras walking past while being watched yourself by curious animals in this wildlife-dense haven.

Safari drives are bound to delight, with large numbers of animals living in the crater. All of the ‘big five’ can be found here – lions, leopards, Black rhinos, buffalo and elephants, as well as a myriad of other birds and animals.

Wildlife conservation

In the Ngorongoro crater, pressures are building on the lions as the human population increases. Learn first-hand from local warriors who have taken on the role of lion guardians and support their vital work.
