Villa La Massa

Villa La Massa

Just 30 minutes from the bustling heart of Florence, nestled in 20 hectares of lemon and olive groves and right next to the Arno River, lies the historic Villa La Massa. With its terracotta villa, vaulted ceilings, romantic archways and underground dining room, this Medici-era hotel is a gem waiting to be discovered.

With only 37 rooms, Villa La Massa offers intimate, luxurious accommodation for the discerning traveller. Rooms are furnished in baroque style, with wrought iron four-poster beds, painted ceiling frescoes, and sumptuous drapes and fabrics.

Historic dining options

Villa La Massa boasts three excellent dining venues and bars. Il Verrocchio - a vaulted dining room with a terrace overlooking the river - serves a daily breakfast and an evening menu of traditional Tuscan cuisine of fresh meats, fish and locally-sourced produce. At the Medicean Bar, the Pool Bar and the Tuscan Bistrot, guests can enjoy light bites and delicious cocktails as they take in the fantastic views. Meanwhile, at the underground Cellar Bar, the sommelier will be pleased to introduce you to some of the hundreds of wines held at Villa La Massa. Cheese and wine tasting evenings are a regular event here, and the historic setting certainly gives this a special ambience.

Explore and unwind

Kick-back in the Arno Spa and enjoy its steam rooms, Turkish baths and sensory showers. If you want to really indulge, treat yourself to one of the soothing massages or aroma-therapeutic treatments.

For something more active, ask the concierge about taking a horse riding lesson, or head to the tennis courts for a game. There are also some great hiking and jogging trails through the surrounding countryside.

For excursions further afield, how about a hot air balloon tour of Florence, or a visit to one of the many vineyards in the region? Villa La Massa is perfectly placed for all of this and more.
