Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa

Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa

The internationally-renowned Uxua Casa Hotel Spa is the perfect antidote to the bright lights and glitz of Rio and Brazil's other cities. You will be enchanted by its fabulous beachside location, stunning gardens, imaginative design and laid-back luxury.

Worldwide reputation

Now a UNESCO protected area, the town of Trancoso was originally discovered by Portuguese explorers in 1500, and rediscovered by artsy, hippy culture in the 1970s. Since then, this relaxed and beautiful town has developed a worldwide reputation with the global elite, and Uxua Casa Hotel Spa is one of the reasons for this.

Rustic modernism

Restored by Designer Wilbert Das, working with local artists and craftsmen, the hotel is a cluster of 11 cleverly-restored former fisherman's houses, some dating as far back as the town's founding. Each has its own distinct style and reflects the personality of its former occupants. The decor is both traditional and inventive, where modern luxuries sit side by side with locally carved furniture, colourful regional fabrics and eye-catching, often quirky architectural touches. Expect arched doorways, little nooks and crannies made into charming seating areas, and televisions hidden within wooden trunks. The intensely green and lush gardens are home to exotic birds, playful monkeys and majestic palms.

Slow pace

With half of its casas sheltered in the forest, others on Trancoso's Quadrado, a lovely car free town square, and one casa a raised studio in the treetops, staying at this remarkable hotel allows for a fully immersive experience; you will find yourself slowing down to Trancoso time soon after you arrive. An idyllic swimming pool, a superb restaurant serving gourmet street food, a dreamy spa and a rustic beach lounge complete the offering.

Uxua Casa Hotel Spa is a haven for adventurous travellers, artists and those seeking the joys of a slower pace of life in an incomparably lovely setting.

When to travel
Brazil is a huge country meaning climate varies a lot from region to region, but in general you can visit Brazil all year round, with some considerations. As a general rule, weather is better during our winter, with the beach areas generally being a bit rainier and cooler in June and July. This is in contrast to the Pantanal, when June through to October is drier and is the best time for wildlife spotting.
How to get there
British Airways operate a daily direct route to Sao Paulo, as well as a daily direct flight to Rio during our Summer. Flight time to Sao Paulo is around 12 hours and to Rio around 12 ½ hours.
