Tired of PE lessons in the living room? We can’t wait to get out of the house, and so we’re inspired to think about getting active in the Caribbean. Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in St Lucia, is a sumptuously beautiful place to stay, in idyllic Caribbean surroundings. They have an incredible range of activities available both on and off the property. Get active by heading out on their thrilling Zip-line, or undertake some of the multitude of water sport activities that are available. We also love the hikes available, there are numerous options but you can’t beat climbing the iconic Gros Piton, for some perfect panoramas. There are options here for kids and adults alike, making this the ideal family break.
When we think of great art we perhaps don’t always think of the Arabian Gulf, but the Louvre Gallery in Abu Dhabi is changing that, so if it’s artistic inspiration you are after, then look no further. This museum plays host to an incredible collection of world famous pieces from such luminary artists as Da Vinci, Manet, Bellini and Mondrian. In addition, temporary exhibitions offer a unique experience, past exhibitions have included never before seen Picassos demonstrating Abu Dhabi’s drive to really and truly become an artistic centre.
What better way to learn about history than to visit one of the modern wonders of the world – Machu Picchu. This stunning archaeological gem brings history to life as you wander the walls of the incredible lost city, it’s much more Indiana Jones than double history on a Monday morning. We’ve created a Classic Peru itinerary that takes in all the main historic sites, take a more in depth look here. If you are a real archaeological buff, then head to remote northern Peru where new discoveries are made nearly every month.
What better places to catch up on some legendary fiction than in Greece, discover some of the destinations behind the iconic Greek Myths. On Crete you can head out in the footsteps of Theseus in search of the Minotaur. Crete is also where Zeus is supposed to have grown up, and his hiding place on Mount Ida can still be visited. On the mainland, the reported home of the gods, Mount Olympus can still be visited, this legendary mountain is the perfect backdrop to all manner of iconic fiction.
If film studies are your bag, then the mecca for all things cinema is obviously Hollywood. We’ve created an incredible trip across the Western US, that takes in all manner of experiences including a real film focus in Hollywood. What better way to learn about the natural world than immersing yourself in it at Ulusaba Private Game Reserve? The Lodge has a dedicated club – the Cubs Club – for kids age 6 and over focussed on providing an amazing experience for families, because Rock Lodge is intimate, they do not operate a set programme, but rather a range of great activities for cubs to choose from. On arrival each cub will receive a backpack filled with fun and educational safari goodies. There are numerous child focussed activities, including our favourite, a mini Ranger’s course where the Ranger will teach them about the African bush and how to track and identify animal footprints and dung droppings. There really is no better way to learn about the wildlife of Africa.
Tenerife is renowned as one of the best spots in the world for stargazing, and so is a must visit for budding astronomers. Bahia del Duque has a dedicated astronomical experience, where you can explore the sky of the Canary Islands, one of the most spectacular in the world. Surprise yourself by contemplating the sky from the hotel’s Observatory and discover the overwhelming immensity of a sky full of stars. Thailand is a destination that just about has it all, and one of the essential components of this is its mouth-watering cuisine!
