Hog Hollow Country Lodge

Hog Hollow Country Lodge

Situated 18 kilometres from the spectacular Plettenberg Bay, this resort reclines on the edge of the verdant forest and boasts fabulous views of the Tsitsikamma Mountains and across the surrounding valleys and Matjies River Gorge. If you want to spend a week or two relaxing in sublime luxury whilst enfolded in nature, there can be no better place to do so than at Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Luxurious suites

Whilst this fantastic resort is all about getting close to nature, its wondrous suites, each set amongst lush vegetation, still manage to provide exquisite luxury to their occupants. Each of the 16 suites is designed in a contemporary African style, with neutral colours and splashes of brighter tones. Features include king-sized or twin beds, fans and exclusive wooden verandas on which to soak up the South African sun. For families, the resort also has two gorgeous villas available, situated in the secluded privacy of the surrounding greenery.

Delectable dishes

This resort’s single restaurant is nevertheless all you could ask for in keeping with the simplistic yet high quality style. Depending on the weather, breakfast may be served on the restaurant’s outdoor terrace with breathtaking views of the surrounding forest or else indoors beside the blazing fire. Whilst meals are generally sociable occasions, you can request a more intimate set-up should you prefer, and the friendly, helpful staff will be only too pleased to accommodate your wishes.

Rural wonders

The Hog Hollow Country Lodge offers a range of activities, from hiking the forest paths to exploring the surrounding landscape on horseback. Why not visit the nearby Monkeyland or Birds of Eden or take a trip to the pretty, bustling town of Plettenberg with its excellent restaurants and pristine beaches? Alternatively, simply relax and unwind beside the clear pool, soaking up the ambiance of pure, unadulterated nature.

Everything you need to know before planning your dream trip

When to travel
November to February is the busiest time, but March to April and September to October are popular. Whale watchers should visit July to October, whilst May to October is a good time for safaris – it can get cold on game drives so pack a fleece
How to get there
Your holiday will begin with a British Airways or Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg, or British Airways to Cape Town – the average flying time about 11 hours, although as there is only a 1 hour time difference there’s no tedious jet lag
