El Silencio Lodge

El Silencio Lodge

El Silencio Lodge is in the Costa Rica rainforest near the Pao Volcano. It has a reputation for being the most relaxing, tranquil and secluded luxury hotel in the Costa Rican mountains, and is ideal for those who seek a deep connection with nature, luxury accommodation and exhilarating adventures.

Luxury and seclusion

The suites and villas at the resort offer secluded living with the luxurious amenities of a top-class hotel. Canopied ceilings, full-length glass doors, ornamental bamboo reeds, private decks and outdoor whirlpools provide contemporary comfort with stunning cloud forest views.

Healthy and delicious dining

The food experience at El Silencio is a combination of healthy food and the flavours of Costa Rica. There are two dining areas - Las Ventanas and Hierbabuena Restaurant, both serving food with vegetables, spices, herbs and eggs sourced from the El Silencio organic farm.

Private dining at night in the forest lit by flaming torches and candlelight is perfect for special occasions. Be sure to attend the wine and coffee tasting experiences.

Exhilarating adventures

El Silencio Lodge offers exhilarating experiences. Explore natural landscapes and get to know the local culture. Leave a permanent reminder of your visit at the tree planting ceremony. Be guided along paths by a pristine creek that leads to a spectacular waterfall. Start your day surrounded by beautiful forest birds. A horseback adventure takes you near the Paos Volcano and visits the Bajos del Toro community, while chocolate lovers should go on a visit to a nearby cocoa plantation.

For more vigorous experiences there is white water rafting, zip lines and mountain biking.

For a break from adventuring, go to the spa for yoga classes and get closer to nature in the Conical Room which channels the spirit of the river.

Lovers of nature, adventure and luxury will love El Silencio Lodge.

Everything you need to know before planning your dream trip

The Essentials
Transfers are 1 ½ hours from San Jose International Airport / 15 Rooms & Suites / 1 Restaurant & Bar / Spa / Children over 8 welcome
When to travel
Although a relatively small country, Costa Rica’s climate varies from its Pacific Coast to its Caribbean Coast which means there is quite a wide season of travel. For the Pacific Coast, December to April is the driest and brightest, while on the Caribbean side March to August is the best time. Avoid travel in September and October when rainfall is at its heaviest. November sees slightly less rainfall, and can be a good option as national parks can be a little quieter than the peak seasons.
How to get there
British Airways fly direct to San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital up to three times a week from London Gatwick, flight time is around 11 ½ hours. Indirect options via Europe or the US are also available, including from regional airports within the UK.
