Hotel Information
Tanjong Jara Resort is a middle-of-nowhere place designed to
de-stress, divert and delight. Spend a few days at this east-coast
resort and you'll remove yourself from the rest of the world, its
location amidst graceful palms on the edge of a wide sandy beach
conducive to revitalisation and regeneration, not to mention plenty
of early nights. And whilst its Spa Village made hard-to-impress
Tatler sit up and take notice recently, this is a place where
nature walks, jungle treks and river cruises seem just as
appropriate.
The resort itself has been inspired by the gracefulness of 17th
century Malay palaces; locally-sourced timber, traditional pitched
roofs and plenty of calming water features used throughout its
low-rise construction. Most of the guest rooms are a generous 55sqm
and housed in two-storey units looking out towards the gardens or
South China Sea. Go for an upper Bumbung Room if the views are
particularly important and a lower Serambi Room if a verandah seems
more appealing. If you want them both then the single-storey
beachfront Anjung Rooms will fit the bill, whilst the Anjung Suite
has everything you could possibly need within its 176sqm.
Dining Information
The dining experience here is primarily about the exploration of
Malaysian cuisine; the freshly-caught seafood, garden-fresh
vegetables and tender meats served by the sea at The Nelayan, over
a flowing river at Di Atas Sungei or beneath the rustling palms at
Teratai Terrace.
Amenities
There are also tennis courts, two pools and seasonal water
sports, although you'll find it hard to think of anything other
than massages, scrubs and wraps after you've set eyes on the
spa.
