Standing high above the floor of the magnificent Tsitsikamma forest, Tsala Treetop Lodge is a design triumph in stone, wood and glass. It lies just five minutes from its sister hotel Hunter’s Country House
and whilst these two Relais & Châteaux hotels could not be more different in terms of design and mood, rest assured that the same high standards apply to both.
Elevated wooden walkways meander through the woods to ten exclusive and very private timber suites. Suspended between 4 and 10 metres above the ground, each room features floor-to-ceiling windows and infinity plunge pools overlooking the dense forest.
A stone fireplace divides the living area and step-up bedroom, both of which are exercises in cream contemporary style. The oversized bathrooms only add to their seductive appeal.
And whilst many couples are quite content to luxuriate within their cosy confines all day, the hotel’s publicareas are equally appealing. Intimate sitting rooms, a cosy library and alfresco decks beckon during the day,
those interested in the great outdoors delighted todiscover they are just 6 miles from the shops, restaurants and beaches of Plettenberg Bay. Of course few
guests leave for long as the Pan African fusion cuisine of the lodge’s forest view restaurant awaits, the dining venue at Hunter’s Country House right next door for
the occasional change.
