Treasure Beach

Whilst it has long ranked amongst Barbados’ most cherished hotels, Treasure Beach made everyone sit up and take notice when it re-opened with a stylish new look last winter. The revamped public areas, contemporary interior designs and brand new suites are just a few of the reasons why it can again compete for the title of the island’s finest
boutique hotel, yet traditionalists have no need to fret. General Manager Hamish Watson will ensure the house party ambience everyone loves remains in tact.

This privately-owned hotel is nestled between magnificent tamarind, mahogany and palm trees on a popular west coast beach. Guests make themselves at home in a series of terraced one-bedroom suites that form a cosy horseshoe shape leading down to the beach. Appointed in a chic yet distinctly Bajan theme, they feature air-conditioned bedrooms and separate fan-cooled living areas with terraces opening out onto either the tropical gardens, kidneyshaped swimming pool or blue-green Caribbean Sea. Modern bathrooms, wet bars, mini-fridges and plasma-panel TVs mean guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay, yet for those with romance on their minds,
there’s nowhere better than the new Ocean Front Luxury Suites with their deep baths, walk-in showers for two and plunge pools overlooking the beach. The 1,000-square-foot Hemingway Suite, with its private terrace and alfresco plunge pool, has also been lovingly renovated to the very highest standards.

Similarly lofty standards await in the hotel’s award-winning Al Fresco Restaurant, its eclectic blend of continental specialities and seafood dishes taking full advantage of fresh local produce from both the land and the sea. Its recent re-styling means that guests can now dine by candlelight beneath the stars. And whilst an air-conditioned fitness suite
is right on-site to help work-off those calories, water sports are available at local charges from the beach and golf can be on the agenda in less than five–minutes on the 18-hole course at Sandy Lane. Evenings here are generally of the low-key variety, although lively nightlife is yours for the asking at several nearby hotels, bars and restaurants.
