TAJ LAKE PALACE - Udaipur

A surreal vision in white marble dropped in the middle of the serene Lake Pichola, the Aravalli Mountains providing the equally theatrical backdrop. It was built in 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II and if you spend a few days here you can almost imagine you are staying in the Taj Mahal itself. Opulent silks and ornately-carved furniture
distinguish the 83 guest rooms, all of which come with stunning lake views. There’s deluxe rooms and more spacious luxury rooms, not to mention a whole host of
expansive suites conceived with romance in mind. For recreation guests can take a dip in the lakeside pool, maintain their exercise regime in the mini-gym or just laze with champagne in the Jacuzzis. For a real treat there are the time-honoured Indian
treatments of the Taj Spa, the ‘Mewar Khas’ echoing the pre-bathing rituals practiced by royalty. And whilst you could complete the experience with a romantic dinner on the royal barge, the two restaurants are sure to tempt you with their international and local Rajasthani fare.
