Southern Africa

Begin your Southern African adventure in Cape Town, continue through the Winelands and then on to the Garden Route and perhaps finish up with a safari - several of the lodges are malaria-free and most offer sightings of the Big Five. Despite almost 1,000-miles of coastline, Namibia is a desert country so come here to experience the vast shifting sand dunes or the stark salt pans of the Etosha National Park with its giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and lions. Why not combine a wilderness trip here with a visit to neighbouring Botswana, where huge herds of game wander the plains? Zambia is where you finally get to set eyes on the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world and known locally as the ‘Smoke that Thunders’ while Mozambique’s island archipelagos might be very much off-the-beaten-track, but they’ve been recently re-invigorated by some very special beach resorts.

Botswana

BOTSWANA is all about the wildlife. Huge herds of game wander the plains, The Chobe National Park particularly remarkable for its 60,000 plus elephants, not to mention its predatory lions, leopards and cheetahs. Yet for a safari experience with a difference come to the Okavango Delta. This wetland paradise in the Kalahari Desert features swamps, islands, flood plains and reed beds; the most memorable way of viewing its incredible wildlife is by mokoro, a shallow dug-out canoe which glides around the waterways in total silence.

Mozambique

MOZAMBIQUE'S island archipelagos might be very much off-the-beaten-track, but they've been recently re-invigorated by some very special beach resorts. These eco-conscious getaways define 'island chic' and work like a dream amidst the natural beauty of the Bazaruto or Quirimbas National Parks.
