Six Senses Latitude Laamu is a recent addition to the Six Senses Resorts & Spas portfolio and is all about ‘Redefining Experiences’. Indeed, it’s located on land and over water so has borrowed from both Soneva Gili and Soneva Fushi, yet this eco-conscious newcomer has a slightly funkier and trendier edge than its more rustic sister properties.
It lies on the privately-owned Olhuveli Island in the Laamu Atoll, its 100 beach and water villas elegantly designed with the focus on natural materials, soft shapes and jute finishes. Beach Villas are defined by their outdoor rain showers, private gardens and sundecks, as well as their raised outdoor decks suitable for a little alfresco dining or even sleeping. Water Villas offer equally exciting enticements like outdoor sitting areas with over water nets, sunken baths with breathtaking ocean views and glass floors suitable for watching the underwater world drift beneath you. And if you like the idea of an extra bedroom for the kids, as well as a water slide directly into the lagoon, go for the two-storey Water Villa Suites.
A large section of the beach has been left untouched to provide a virgin beach experience for everyone; the water sports, dive school, boat trips and surfing excursions complemented by a Six Senses Spa offering anything from a gym and lap pool to yoga and Tai Chi. The innovative food and beverage experiences are located predominantly over water; anything from à la carte and organic restaurants to a chocolate shop and crèpe counter available. The openair cinema is an unusual treat.
