Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa

Open since February 2006, Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa is not only the first three-hotel luxury resort for the sultanate of Oman, but also for Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts. It boasts a prime setting amidst 124-acres of
gardens backdropped by rugged mountains and fronted by 580-metres of beach, all the historic delightsof downtown Muscat a convenient 20-minutes’ drive away.

The 640 rooms and suites are spread out between three distinct properties; the family-orientated Al Waha, the five-star Al Bandar and the exclusive Al Husn. Guests can float between Al Waha and Al Bandar by means of man-made currents along the 250-metre Lazy River, whilst general facilities include a yachtmarina, a PADI dive centre, a unique Omani HeritageVillage with an amphitheatre, as well as a CHI Spa Village with the most spacious spa suites in Oman.

Al Waha (‘The Oasis’) ranks as the development’s largest hotel, its 262 balconied guest rooms a minimum of 37 square-metres in size, its architecture traditional Omani in style and its central swimming pool creatively
styled after a desert oasis. On-site restaurants include a South American all-day dining venue, a high quality fast-food restaurant and a pool bar for light snacks and
refreshments.

Al Bandar (‘The Town’) is definitely the resort’s focal point, this deluxe 198-roomed hotel featuring eight food and beverage outlets, as well as a high-octane nightclub. Its balconied guest rooms are at least 45 square-metres in size and its architectural style was
inspired by old Muscat, although little can beat the visual appeal of its oversized swimming pool complete with fixed tiled sun beds half-immersed in water.

Al Husn (‘The Castle’) enjoys a prime setting on a panoramic headland, its architecture reminiscent of ancient Omani forts. All 180 bedrooms are at least 56square-metres in size and guests here have exclusive use of a private gym, an infinity swimming pool and a
private beach. The Moroccan and international restaurants are complemented by a pool bar and cigar lounge, the service levels matching these high standards.
