RAMBAGH PALACE - Jaipur

For nearly two centuries the Rambagh Palace was home to generations of royals. Built in 1835 on a modest scale for the queen’s favourite handmaiden, it was later refurbished as a royal guesthouse and hunting lodge. In 1925 it was converted into
a palace and became the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur, remaining the home of
the Jaipur royal family until 1957 when it was first converted into a luxury hotel. Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces took over the reigns in 1972, ensuring the elegantly appointed rooms, marbled corridors and majestic gardens still offered guests a taste of royal living. Just 79 rooms await here, each one drawing from the colourful art and warm hues of the state of Rajasthan. Four-poster beds and spacious bathrooms are standard, some aesthetically-restored suites once the chambers of the former Maharaja. Modern additions include a spa and gym, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, whilst the three restaurants offer anything from light snacks to Indian cuisine still good enough for royalty!

ACCESS: 11 KMS FROM THE AIRPORT.
CHILDREN: WELCOME YEAR-ROUND.
2 NIGHTS: FROM £290 P.P. IN THE LOW-SEASON. (FLIGHTS AND TRANSFERS EXTRA).
