| India’s first luxury jungle resort, The Oberoi Vanyavilas enjoys a remote location on the edge of the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan. Once the scene of royal hunting parties, today this National Park is one of the best places in India to see tigers roaming
in the wild, the months of May and June probably the best time for sightings.
Twenty-five luxury tents provide the accommodation, each one 790 square-feet in size and all boasting their own private gardens and outside decks suitable for
sunbathing. The polished timber flooring and embroidered interior canopies combine with their four-poster beds and freestanding rolltop baths to evoke a distinctly regal ambience, whilst contemporary comforts include mini-bars and DVD players.
After exciting days spent tiger spotting in the reserve, guests can take advantage of the swimming pool, the fitness tent or the steam rooms and private therapy suites of The Oberoi Spa set over the lake. At lunchtime a varied poolside menu is offered, but after
dark the spotlight moves across to the frescoed Dining Room which offers a versatile multi-cuisine menu, much of the fresh produce coming straight from the hotel’s own kitchen garden. Yet alfresco dining in the
courtyard is also a popular option and there’s
nowhere better than The Library Bar for swopping jungle stories.
