Curtain Bluff

Curtain Bluff is a legendary Caribbean resort. It wowed its first guests 45 years ago and has exactly the same effect on people today, its breathtaking bluff setting suitably enhanced by a clutch of traffic-stopping suites, a new water’s edge spa and a laid-back clubby ambience that belies its rather haughty reputation.

The stars of the show are its two white sand beaches (one dramatically windswept, the other delightfully serene) and more often than not it is the panoramic views of the turquoise Atlantic Ocean that dominate the tastefully restrained accommodation - no matter how creative the interior designer, absolutely nothing can surpass the sight
of the spume-topped waves breaking just outside the balcony.

All of the wicker-furnished guest rooms, split-level executive suites and one-of-a-kind suites are spacious and airy, the bevy of junior suites particularly luxurious havens in which to relax and be thankful to have escaped the British winter. In general, one can expect marble bathrooms and private balconies, but nothing so clichéd as TVs or room keys. Spoil yourself and reserve either the Grace Bay or the Morris Bay Suite, their wicker-and-wood colonial elegance complemented by private Jacuzzis on panoramic terraces.

Underscoring this pampered club-like ambience is the fact that almost everything is included in a stay at Curtain Bluff. Recreational activities are all complimentary and guests are able to play tennis and squash, use the fitness room, go windsurfing, water skiing, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling and even scuba-diving without ever having to think about the cost. Only spa treatments and scuba-diving lessons are extra.

And whilst days here are deliberately designed to be tropically casual, the evenings are carefully fashioned as special events, from the hors d’oeuvres served in the intimate bar to the continental specialities showcased in the alfresco restaurant. The formal dress code has now been relaxed, yet the combination of live music, attentive service and award-winning wines ensure the night time ambience is still suitably refined.
