| Coral Reef Club is the epitome of West Indian
elegance, originally conceived in the fifties by
Englishman Budge O’Hara and today run with equal panache by his wife Cynthia and their three offspring. Indeed, it is Patrick, Mark and Karen who spearheaded a recently completed re-development programme that transformed the resort’s original guest rooms into stylish junior suites and who introduced private
plunge pools to the new luxury cottages and
‘designer’ Plantation Suites. Four-poster beds and ultra-glamorous bathrooms are also on the menu here, all accommodation coming complete with balconies or terraces overlooking either the gardens, swimming pools or ocean and off-shore coral reef.
Of course, some traditions never change and great emphasis continues to be placed upon dining here. Executive Chef Graham Licorish heads a team with experience in some of the finest international restaurants, the classic French dishes combining with West Indian flavours and regular live entertainment to
create memorable tropical evenings.
And whilst guests usually need look no further than the beach to keep them entertained during the day (there’s a dive school, catamaran cruises and complimentary water sports including water skiing) the two swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness room
and a nearby 18-hole golf course ensure plenty of land-based activities too. It is no surprise Coral Reef is a member of ‘Small Luxury Hotels of the World’.
