At the Banyan Tree Maldives Madivaru you can forget all about thatched-roof bungalows and over-water villas with steps straight down into the lagoon. But chances are you’ll simply be happy luxuriating in them, the interior furnishings exuding a warm tropical ambience replete with timber flooring, rattan and teak furnishing, as well as handcrafted canvas accents. And don’t think you’ll have to rough it as free-standing baths are standard, your own pool awaits outside and dedicated island hosts are at your disposal 24-hours a day.

Not that the pristine white sand beach and crystal clear lagoon are more than a few steps away either. And just so you don’t miss out on anything, sunset cruises, fishing trips and dolphin safaris courtesy of The Madi are also part of the deal. All meals are also included here for your convenience, the tented main restaurant supplemented by the in-villa dining opportunities. Of course, you can also dine on a deserted sandbank - when the tide comes up to your knees you’ll know it’s time to leave.
