The first Aman resort in the Caribbean was a long time in coming. Yet this discreetly luxurious 40-pavilion retreat was worth the wait, its hideaway location on the west coast of Providenciales enhanced by low-rise contemporary buildings that blend unobtrusively with the sweeping white sands. The highly-acclaimed reefs of the Northwest Point Marine Park also lie just off shore for snorkellers and scuba-divers, whilst the in-suite spa treatments and nearby championship golf course mean this is a place for peace-seeking naturalists with a self-indulgent side.
This resort makes the most of its pristine surroundings, the public areas open to sea views and the guest rooms distinguished by glass panel walls designed to bring the tropics right inside the room. The timber shingled accommodation falls into three main categories; Pavilions sited on the edge of tranquil ponds with sun decks extending over the water; Partial Ocean Pavilions nestled in the vegetation along the shoreline and Ocean Pavilions set along the oceanfront and elevated about 20-feet above the waterline. Appointed in a simple yet striking natural palette, there is plenty of outdoor living space for dining and tanning, whilst a series of 3 to 5-bedroom villas featuring their own infinity-edge swimming pools are also on offer.
Yet you will want to emerge. The Beach Club and Restaurant offer casual lunches and elegant dinners with an Asian or Mediterranean flavour and there’s an expansive swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness centre and water sports. But you may simply prefer to enjoy an iced tea and another chapter of your favourite novel in The Library - the views are top drawer.
